About Me
I have developed this blog as a “go-to” spot for education and entertainment to my fellow mountain biking enthusiasts. Be sure to check the “Pages”,”recent posts”, and “comments” sections daily for new info, there’s alot of valuable information here and on the way. I welcome all comments and stories but please, keep it kid-friendly, as this website is for riders of all ages
I hope you enjoy the great stories and overall educational value of this site and look forward to your comments. Now then …LET’S RIDE!!
I’m the guy you see crankin’ through downtown on my mountain bike, jumpin’ over everything I see, doing walltaps cuz I’m going waaaay too fast, tailwhipping sign posts and coming just shy of disaster many, many times… sorry to those folks BTW. I’d have to say there’s nothing I like more than getting on my bike and “feelin’ the force”.
.
I enjoy riding in the city equally as much as trail riding. I enjoy the challenges and obstacles that are constantly changing and, Ill say, you really have to be on your “A” game. Especially if your gonna hit the streets for a hardcore ride. Obviously bigger cities provide more challenges but don’t under-estimate rural and small city roads, sometimes they can be just as tricky. You have to be able to make split second, potentially dangerous, decisions. Those decisions that could end with “you at home in time for dinner” or “eating from a straw for the rest of your life”. OOOH what a rush!! I love it, cant get enough. The force of the adrenaline pumping, dodging and weaving in and out of people and light posts and mailboxes and park benches, jumping off curbs and over trash cans and picnic tables… sorry, I’m getting excited
All I’m saying is, if you really want a mentally, as well as physically challenging ride, hit some city streets and you will see…. OH YOU WILL SEE!!
.
I also have a passion for trail riding. There are many different types of trails, all the way from “flat-landing” to downhill mountain biking. Though completely different than city riding, equally as enjoyable and adrenaline pumping. You’ve got soft sand, gravel, mud, and roots to contest with, hairpin turns between trees and around boulders, and don’t forget to watch out for those low hanging branches ( some of them will take you right off your bike). You could end up on a trail just a few inches wide or one that’s wide enough for a car. Regardless, I’m the one jumping and launching off anything that gets in my way, cruising into turns way to fast and having to lock the brakes and lie down sideways just to make it through without nailing a tree or rock. I make my own little paths off of the main one, line up with a nice launch back to the trail, and pray I dont clothesline myself with a treebranch on the way back to the trail. The harder the better :)
.
Either way, city or trail, you have to be absolutely alert of everything going on around you and coming at you. As crazy as I get on my bike, I am always thinking 4 steps ahead ( “A” GAME
). The first time you let yourself slip and not keep 100% focus on whats coming next, you will surely understand why its so important ( as your slamming into that street sign or 1 ton boulder). There is only one thing, to me, that is more important than focus when you’re riding…. and that’s PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT, helmet/knee-pads/elbow pads/glasses etc.., as well as things like sunscreen, a compass, and plenty of water or hydrant. Without the proper protective gear and an adequate source of hydration, you might as well just ollie into that low hanging pine branch and get it over with quick. I wouldn’t even think of riding without these, potentially life saving items. ( please see my posting about the importance of protective equipment)
.
Well, I hope you enjoy this site and as I said, I welcome any and all comments and stories just keep it kid friendly please. Your experiences and insight are valued and any knowledge you can offer us, your fellow riders, is greatly appreciated. There’s alot of valuable researched information here as well as some great stories inspired by friends and many biking adventures. We all look forward to reading about you and yours.
